Below is an example of an email sent to various synaesthetes who contacted me through the Synaesthesia Association UK, requesting their help with our research and website plans.
I also provided each synaesthete with a template to allow us to configure a consistent profile of each of our onboard synaesthetes.
After our test shots in the morning, here's just a rough video of the shots we tried out and experimented with the lighting. We are also looking at 16:9 or 2:35:1 aspect ratio and tried out both to see how it looks!
These tunes have plenty of auditive stimulation that could be of great use as inspiration for creating something similar. Since I recently discovered my brother has synesthesia, I've tried showing him different music through skype, to see which songs make him see the most. These were the ones that came up. He mentioned that instrumentals are more intense for him whereas dull chords with repetitions like pop songs are not very invigorating, he feels.
These are some of my brother's paintings, one of them he made whilst listening to music.
Here is a post to compile all kinds of music we may use, whether for the moving image itself or just for inspiration. Here's just to start of with a couple of music sources and types that we could possibly look into or explore for the synaesthetes, do throw in more whenever you come across any cool ones too, as well as any music done by yourself!
Lights and Motion
(YT link)He's a music composer that does a lot of cinematic/ambience and uplifting music pieces that are soft or with the piano which cold be something that we're going for, however, we will have to get in touch with him/or the company for permission/ paid licensing to use his music, or perhaps do a cover if it's completely piano etc
Example pieces:
NoCopyrightSounds (NCS)
(website)They have a whole library of royalty free music that we can use as long as we credit them! Though most of their works are geared towards Dubstep, House, and Electronic, They do have section playlists called Indie Dances and Chillstep, which is more uplifting, happy not as beat heavy as their other works. Not much classical or piano but could be another option of feel good music that could bring fairly interesting perspectives from the synaesthetes as well c:
Example pieces:
MrSuicideSheep
(YT link)He's a youtuber that does a lot of mixes and other times sharing music made by others, could be a good place to look for music and find new artists or draw inspiration for making our own.
Example mixes:
Throw in anything else you come across! \o/
Classical
Through research I discovered that many musicians have quoted that they see/hear colour when they listen to music. This will be interesting to utlize their music and imply it within our short video.
During this week we should be allocating certain roles for everyone in our group to keep ourselves organised and useful during these weeks. Furthermore, we will be creating a timetable of our production schedule.

Found potential studio space, has a very 'artsy' feel to it. Nice big open space, with lots of room for lights, found some black cloth that we could use to cover the walls/windows.
Need to email Toby to book the space.
Find artists interested in taking part - Jeno is an almost definite.
Ask art department if we can borrow an easel
Go to Tesco to buy a canvas and some paint
Thursday we're going to print off posters to find actors, and we want to potentially start filming end of next week.
